Re: Cleaning records

Depending on how dirty the record is I normally give it a mild washing up liquid pre-clean,I use a natural sponge for this.I do this so there is very little crap left to harm the felt wand on my VPI 16.5.
Carefully rinse the Record,as a earlier thread said,rinse away from the lable,try not to get the lable wet.Certain lables(UK EMI ORIGS for one)react to the washing up liquid.
Then the normal process with the RCM.
I did,pre RCM do a completely manual wash,with good results,however I've found that both methods leave some dried residue especially on the run in grooves but normally a few plays will remove this.
Once experienced you can normally tell dried residue/dirt from a scratch.
