XM will definitely expose you to all kinds of music that you probably wouldn't otherwise hear. Yes, it does give me ideas for vinyl. As an example, I was never very familiar with Frank Zappa's stuff but after hearing some on XM, I purchased Strictly Commercial and listened to sides 1 and 2 yesterday. Great stuff!My interests lie primarily in classic rock, classical and traditional jazz and XM has them all (and a lot more). I suppose the one drawback is that most of the new music you hear is never going to be available vinyl, but if you love music you have to deal with the current technology.
XM does sound pretty damn good through my tubed line stage and amps and I think it softens the *digititis* a bit.
