Yes, I think the image is a bit wide, but not objectionably so. What really strikes me is the depth and detail. You can actually hear Mr. Starker breathing sometimes and you can hear his fingers on the strings, as if you are sitting a few feet away while he is playing. It's quite amazing really. I have never heard a cello recording that sounds so real.I have not heard the CD version so I can't make a comparison but I think the LP's are magnificent.
