Re: priority

Ehien,

I'm not an expert on Grado carts. I've heard one at a shop, and it did not suit my taste. No experience with it on my system.

With that said, my feeling is that rega and grado are pursuing different types of presentations. Therefore I would not call it a synergistic match, but you might find that the combination has the right balance for you.

You mentioned that your table still comes short on dynamics, focus and transparency. That is what I heard when I tried the Grado at the shop. By going to dynavector or roksan, you will lose a bit of warmth compared to grado, but it won't sound cold and sterile. I think it will still have the natural, warm and effortless sound compared to CDs.

I included Elys because I have some experience with it, it is decent if not spectacular, it is relatively cheap and it is plug and play on rega decks. You get discount on the new rega cartridges by turning in the old one. I hear (from trusted source) that the super elys is quite good but don't have direct experience.

Take your time and enjoy the music. It's the most cost-effective way :-)
