First distortion problem I encounter during my archiving, recording to DSF at -3 db gain on the KORG. I first thought it must be mistracking.
Pretty horrible distortion during some whistling musical content, at about 1:00 minute of my recording, on the 1st track of West Side Story, original cast recording.
I thought it must be input preamp overload on the KORD, or mistracking, but I have no output level on my phono preamp, so nothing I can do.
For giggles, I searched for the track on QOBUZ and found it on a remastered release.
Lo and Behold! Same distortion on same musical content for the QOBUZ remaster!
Very surprised they could not fix for the remaster. Listen to the whistling and the accompanying distortion just before this position:
