RE: IFI Zen phono stage?

I did some research and seen comments that the MR-1 mic input impecance is actually closer to 100K, but I have no way to verify.

I thought of the 10-R. But when I tried the 10M DAC, the Korg drivers caused so many BSODs on my windows 10 machine that I ripped the thing out and actually chucked it in the garbage :(

And before it BSOD'd, it would produce loud digital hash at the outputs. Quite annoying. So no more Korg windows drivers for me.

Perhaps with the proper test record I can make some recordings, analyze the response, and try to correct with later EQ for any HF loss due to impedance mismatch. I might be able to accomplish that.

One thing I have been reading about is to use a y-cable and solder a resistor to the unused rca plug.

But then I hve to figure out what the impedance of the mic inputs on the MR-1 actually is, and calculate the additional needed. For an untrained person like me that is work fraught with potential for error.

I still don't know for sure _why_ the recordings using phone preamp to
MR-1 line inputs sound less grainy and more "digital" in the loud passages. Mic input headroom maybe? Or impedance mismatch skewing the HF response?
