Never had that on vinyl

In summer 1988, when we were in high school, my late friend Skull lived on Hyde & Turk, just a block and a half from Hyde Street Studios. Guitarist Joe Satriani told anyone who was listening, that he had a stellar bassist, Stuart Hamm. Satriani recorded some guitar parts, at Hyde Street Studios (where he had recorded Surfing With The Alien ), for what would become Hamm's album, Radio Free Albumeth .

As we were wont to do, my friends went out to play sports. Afterward, we went to Dolores Park. It was sunny, with that cool and gentle late afternoon breeze. Via boombox on the grass, we listened to the cassette of Radio Free Albumeth . When "Flow My Tears" played, our Vietnamese-American friend Anh [over on Speaker Asylum, Anh is mentioned in Part 1 of the Totem Sky review] drifted away. I just recall the MUNI Metro trains going by. When she sauntered back, Anh wistfully murmured, "For a moment, I thought I was in Vietnam."

Powerful stuff, which you never forget.
