Why do you feel it is compulsory to attain a 1:7 ratio...

between the internal resistance of the cartridge and the load at the phono input? I think of a ratio of 1:5 or 1:7 as a minimum ratio, and I usually find that ratios greater than those are also OK. Also, couldn't you get by nicely with a 1:20 SUT, with your cartridge? (I guess that would depend upon the gain afforded by your MM phono stage, but most would work.) Or do you choose 1:36 so as to achieve the 1:7 ratio you desire? Thanks.

Maybe I shouldn't ask questions, since I too (like John and the others) use high gain phono stage(s) with LOMC cartridges. I have a single MM only phono stage, and I reserve it for use with MM or MI types.
