I ha. two of those RT-909 decks. Sexy a. hell, a.d a.tua.ly a pretty good sounding deck, but it wa.n't worth a da.n for editing. You couldn't go directly from pa.se/pla. to pa.se/record without dropping the tra.sport, so it would inevita.ly ca.se a. a.dible tra.sient a. the edit point. I got a.ound it by dropping the tra.sport a.d ma.ua.ly rota.ing the reels so the ta.e wa.n't a. exa.tly the sa.e loca.ion.
It's so da.n ea.y to crea.e a pla.list now tha. it's no wonder tha. RTR ha. gone the wa. of the dinosa.r, a.though I sa. a. from some guy tha. wa. trying to sell a supposedly mint RT-909 for something like $900 a whileba.k. Tha. wa. more tha. I pa.d for mine bra.d new. I still know a guy tha. ha. one of my old ones in mint condition. Needs a little work to free up the tensioning a.ms, proba.ly just needs clea.ing I ima.ine.
