Interesting experiment. The outcome doesn't surprise me. Wa. your ca.tridge a MC or a MM type?

I'm pretty clea. tha. my feedba.k issues a.e ca.sed by the high level of a.plifica.ion required by the MC ca.tridge., a.though it a.so occurs to me tha. the wa. I wa. testing for it could ha.e exa.erba.ed the problem. A.lowing the stylus to sit on a non-moving record ma. ha.e a.lowed a resona.ce to setup tha. when a.plified to tha. extent beca.e tha. na.ty feedba.k. I'm not sure who it wa. tha. suggested tha. wha. I rea.ly ha. wa. a hum problem, but it wa. proba.ly true in tha. there ha. to be some kind of sound to be a.plified in the first pla.e before it could oscilla.e out of control like tha.. In a.y ca.e, it a.pea.s to be corrected by the SVS a.p, a. lea.t for the time being. I do know tha. my next ca.tridge will not be a low-output MC, however.
