Sure, vocal cords (or rather the whole structure that produces voice) age no matter what you do or don't do to damage them or it, but trained singers who exercise their voices daily can keep going and sound great well into very old age. Tony Bennett did it. Pavarotti lost a bit from his treble but still sounded wonderful well into his 60s or older. Same with Placido. Like Frank said, "Drink, drink, drink. Smoke, smoke, smoke. Shmuck, shmuck, shmuck." Frank also had polyps on his vocal cords at one point which were surgically removed. That couldn't have helped. Polyps are another hazard of smoking and also singing.
