I guess I know what you mean, but underhung tonearms are not per se low-fi, in my opinion. With no headshell offset, you still could benefit from anti-skate, if such a device was present, because there is still a skating force except at the single null point afforded by an underhung tonearm, where the cantilever is parallel to the groove. The problem with designing and implementing an anti-skate device for an underhung tonearm is that the skating force changes direction, once the stylus gets past the null point and heads toward the spindle. Hard to imagine an anti-skate device that can accommodate that bit of strangeness.
