DL103-R?Changing arm height alters VTA and (more importantly )SRA. I am guessing that you already know that and that this knowledge may be influencing what you hear when you raise or lower the arm pillar height in response to record thickness.
The Denon 103-R has a spherical stylus which is neither significantly subject to changes in VTA nor SRA. That is, arm height is not going to make a lot of difference. Note that many make the mistake of attributing sonic changes to arm height setting (as that is the action that they were doing) instead of another cause, changes in arm rigidity caused by varying tightness of the arm pillar clamping before and after making adjustments. The SME arm arm pillar clamping tool is not a torque screwdriver so there is no way of verifying that arm clamping is constant.
Of course if the DL103-R has been modified with an elliptical or fine line stylus then the above will not apply but you do not mention any such modification.
If you do have a modified Denon then please let us know.
Some here undertake arm height changes to a level which I consider near obsessive, changing arm height not only disc to disc but from side to side if thought necessary.
