So far as I know, it is really no problem to obtain a good image or view of a stylus tip, in order to determine its shape or lack there of. However, it's quite another thing to interpret what you see. In other words, I don't think we need an electron microscope at all in this case, even if that made any sense. I also know that if you gave me the best possible light microscope view at the highest magnification practical, I still wouldn't really know what I was looking at, unless the stylus was obviously deformed.I would trust Peter Ledermann, or in this case Ortofon, to take a look at my stylus and tell me what is going on. Trust is the keyword. Problem is you have to give up use of your cartridge while someone else is inspecting it on your behalf.
