At least one thing is certain. The Windfeld has a Replicant stylus which AFAIK only Ortofon can replace. It is so different from other stylus profiles that using another fine line stylus would really mean that you no longer have a Windfeld.
The other part of your question regarding how to tell wear is almost impossible to answer. There has been so much written on this forum alone on the subject over the years. It has attracted input from cartridge designers such as Jonathan Carr and Peter Ledermann. However there is still no conclusive advice.
Even if you follow outline guidance ( I would rate the Replicant on the Windfeld at <2K hours) that begs further questions, was it always being used optimally, how did you measure the hours of use etc ?
If you have more than just a hunch that it is worn then I can only suggest sending it to Ortofon in Denmark and asking their expert opinion. If it's OK then they return it. If not then it is already in the only place that can properly service it including furnishing a replacement stylus.
NB: I also own a Windfeld - a Ti in my case.
