Different mats for different platters

I have found that what works best on one turntable does not necessarily work best on every other turntable I own. My two favorite mats are the Boston audio Mat2 and a vintage SAECSS 300 metal mat. I have listened to the OEM rubber mats that typically were supplied with vintage Japanese direct Drive turntables, Herbie's way excellent Mat, and a few other medium expensive accessory mats. Once I arrived at a combination I liked better than a few other combinations, I have stopped playing around with this, because in my opinion platter mats are like salt and pepper. Season to your own taste.
