For me, that is a catch phrase meaning that the reviewer had some reservations about the sound of the item he was reviewing, but for is own private reasons he didn't want to be specific. By itself, the idea does not make much sense without some specific information to go with it. For example, if the turntable is bass shy, maybe you want to integrate it into a system that is a bit bass heavy. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
