It's almost a cliche' to say this, but any time you replace something that you've been listening to for a long time with something that's new to you, there will be differences for sure. We are programmed, I think, to interpret these differences as "better", at least in part because you took a while to make a buying decision and then you spent your hard earned money. That ABA comparison is helpful to identify what may or may not be due to the resulting subconscious bias. More than once I have fallen in love with the new thing only later to realize the old thing was actually more pleasing (or more accurate or insert your own listening goal) in the long run.
