That's broken.

It's not a bad design. Been around for ever and is great -when used properly. It looks like the opening on the tonearm for the fixing grommet screw has been stretched too far by someone who didn't know what they were doing.

From your photo, the collet that is hanging should *not* contain the fitting inside. That fitting should remain at the end of the tonearm. I realise you have probably removed the whole lot for investigation.

Time to have that tonearm repaired or armtube replaced. It should look like this and the collet arrangement should be rock solid:

Azimuth for the headshell is *always* adjusted at the headshell, not the tonearm.
