RE: "Safe as Milk" here this morning...


Is that the double record set with out takes from Strictly Personal? I agree with you that even the his straight ahead stuff is a little twisted but in the context of 1967 and the psychedelic music scene it should have done better. Not only was the good captain his own worst enemy record labels didn't know how to market him and then there is the famous story of Ry Cooder leaving the band just before their Monterey Pop Festival gig pretty much derailing his early career, the shelving of BCP being another. I saw him open for Zappa, my dream concert, in 75 post Bongo Furry and Zappa fans booed him whit a vengeance, I was so upset but he blew my mind, up until then I wasn't sure he could reproduce his music live but they did note for note.
