Right now, I'm back to using tubes (maybe I am a tube guy, after all?):
The AR PH3SE puts out 54dB
The AR LS17 puts out 18dB via XLR and 12dB via SE (I'm using XLR and it's being converted to SE at the amp end via an XLR to RCA adapter).
The amp is a Dennis Had Inspire Fire-Bottle SET pushing 3 watts at the moment.
The speakers are Cain & Cain Abby w/Bailey sub. The Abby's are 95dB efficient.
I've used other preamp (Marsh P2000B) into a Marsh A400S amp playing through various speakers and the volume results were the same.
I'm kind of at a loss, actually, as the Dynavetor cartridge does not sound to my ears like how I've read them to sound. It sounds fine as long as I turn the volume way up, but not how I expected, I guess.
