Although I think it is unlikely that this is an issue, you might take the trouble to make sure that the weigh pan on your new scale is truly non-magnetic. I used a popular one for a few years before realizing its weigh pan is faintly magnetic. This only made a difference with very low output moving coil cartridges that tend to have very strong magnet structures. However when I realized the problem I opted for a different scale. Or you could apply John Ellison's credit card mod to your present scale.As to the wonderfulness of the Shure scale, it was fine when it was all we had to choose from. But these days I would not consider going back to using one, because digital is so much better for this purpose. Furthermore the seesaw on the Shure scale is also faintly magnetic, as I discovered when trying to set VTF for that very same very low output moving coil cartridge.
