Are you sure your digital scale is accurate?

When I went from the Shure to a digital scale, I had to buy a second one. I bought the first one and it told me the Shure had been way off (added too much weight, like yours) so I tossed the Shure.

Then I read somewhere in the forum that not all digital scales are the same. The one I had was somewhat thick, way more than record height. It turned out this type of digital stylus scales were not as accurate as the ones that are made so that the measuring dot is at the same thickness as what an average record would be.

So I had to get a different one. I think it was sub $30. I don't remember how off my other digital scale was but I only use the newer one now.

Doubt you damaged anything. Cartridges seem a bit more sturdy than what a lot of folks give them credit for.
