Understood.
I went from a rig that had cartridges with more output to one that had substantially less. Rega P25 with RB600 arm to an Extended Aries with a Dynavector 20X2H.
I had high expectations for the VPI rig and it just didn't live up to my expectations.
What I should have done was to mount the cartridge I was somewhat familiar with onto the Aries, but since I bought it with the Dynavector already mounted, I left it alone.
I messed around with it again last night and with decent recordings, it actually sounded pretty good. It appears the few records I'd played recently were poorly recorded.
