The 2000E (mine is a II) has alway been and still is much simpler to find quality styli for. A good Jico or Phanstiel is just as good as a genuine although they seem to wear sooner. I sold my "z" decades ago and do not miss it. Even factory styli had quality and durability issues back then. As far as sound I think the E/II was easier to dial in and set up, but otherwise was similar.
I also have a 66e/x that I actully prefer over the 2000 and it is currently in use with a Jico stylus and sounds fantastic,
