Question for VPI 16.5 owners

I bought a couple of new vacuum tubes for my VPI 16.5. They are a different configuration than the original tubes. I've read a couple of different things for mounting the tube. Some say to mount the vacuum tube with the strips parallel to the record, and others say to have it slightly rotated. Not sure which way is the most effective.
