I think it's more about the placement of the motor. TT's with inboard motors are more likely to induce hum from those Grado's that tend to hum. Of course, shielding does help to mitigate the problem. TT's with outboard motors should be OK. (Note: I wrote "should".) I think, based on following this Asylum, that inexpensive Rega + Grado = hum.
