I've tried both the AQ and Hunt dry brushes. I've read all the "how-to's", watched some videos and could never get them to work anywhere as effectively as a Discwasher with a wetting agent.
I've recently started using the Nitty Gritty before playing a record to remove the dust particles on the record. I put my RCM no rinse required fluid in an old contact lens saline solution container where I can easily put a line of solution along the middle of the NG brush. I wipe the brush along a microfiber towel so it won't be so saturated, then go around the record just once. Removes all dust on the record.
Without a wetting agent to grab the dust, all the other brushes do is spread the dust around. I'm convinced those who swear by the AQ and Hunt are A) needing reading glasses but are not using them, B) do not stop the platter after using the brush to see its ineffectiveness, C) do not have a turntable light shining down on the record, or D) any combination of the previous three.
Whichever direction you choose to go, I hope you find one that works for you.
