because there pretty much are no data for turntable lubricants except for the occasional manufacturer (like Technics) who markets a particular lubricant. I admit I do use a synthetic 20W motor oil in three of my TT's. It doesn't have any additives; I was afraid that some detergent additives found in motor oils might be damaging to one or another TT bearing material.
