I'm particularly taken with the tempo of several of the works. To my ears, Leibowitz - on this recording - seemed more able to gather the orchestra together as one. There's a sense of all the whole orchestra playing like one giant instrument, though that may also be a fortuitous function of the acoustics and the recording.
There's also a levity, where appropriate, which catches my ear and is pleasing. The players sound like they really enjoyed themselves, and usually that is a testament to their direction.
