I remember when the Sheffield records first came out and how impressed we all were with them. And, of course, if you went to audio shows then you soon got sick of them because they were played so often.
For historical interest they weren't the first direct to disc LPs. I have at least one example from 1964 and it was made by Stereo Review. They produced a test record to set up al LP system. But on the B side were two cuts that were direct to disc. And because the entire side was not recorded in one sitting(necessary for a direct to disc to play all the way through)you had to get up at the end of cut 1 and reposition the stylus by hand to start cut 2.
