Well there are too many details unknown. The worst thing that could develop is that saliva could cause some kind of damages. Maybe sligtly dissolving and/or weakining of any adhesives that may be on the stylus tip. If you had just taken a shot of good whiskey or preferably gin then the alcohol level may by at leaset at high as stylus cleaners. Enough to dissolve any saliva that may have been left on anything. Worse case scenario is you were so inebreated that you may have not known how much "fluid" you were using and some may have "wicked" up the cantilever. Hope you don't have any corrosion set up anywhere in the magnet/coil structure.
After all this I still think you will be fine. The channel loss will have to be diagnosed. Sounds like you may have ruled out the stylus. Could be a cart problem but unlikely. Maybe the connections at the cart? Or the wiring from cart to output leads? Or the leads themself? Or... Things like this can go on and on, but the problem can be found and corrected. Hope it works out let us know!
