You're wrong! The purpose for setting SRA to 92-degrees is to achieve a nominal value applicable to most of your LPs. Therefore, unless you intend to readjust SRA for each LP individually, setting SRA at 92-degrees is supposed to provide the greatest probability of achieving correct SRA for the maximum number of your LPs.

The "ear" method is valid only if you intend to reset SRA for every LP. Otherwise, it's best to find a nominal setting that provides the correct SRA for the largest percentage of your LPs. That's the purpose of 92-degrees. It's supposed to be the nominal value that will work best with the largest percentage of your records.

Personally, I don't have the desire to even worry about SRA so I simply set my cartridge level with the record playing surface and be done with it. It works for me and it looks nice.
