+1 on the vintage DD

I really love my Sony fully-automatic PS-X55S DD -- with the right high compliance MM cart suited to its very low mass arm. I got nice results with an ADX XLMii Improved for example. It's silent, behaves perfectly, projects a decent soundtage, and is fun to use. After a little shopping and fussing, it was under $300 all in.

My *standard* warning though: Vintage gear is not for everyone. No repair parts, takes some time and study to get it right, etc. I've pulled several of these apart and they are made really well though. If you solder, they perk up with a nice new cable and a shielded power cord.

Your vintage Yamaha receiver will sound pretty damn decent with a respectable MM but keep in mind it ain't no $5000 Atma-Sphere... or whatever... My point is not to over-spend when buying TT #2, given the limitations of the phono stage. I used a Yamaha RX750 with my Sony for a while - it was decent but was a bit soft and veiled, rolled off at both ends, vs my *real* preamp.
