RE: Phono stages effect on Mono

I have a mono switch on my Pass Labs X1 line-stage and I don't think it necessarily makes a significant improvement when listening to mono records. I think mono records sound a little better with the mono switch engaged, but I think they sound good in stereo, too. Therefore, it might just be that your Ortofon Mono cartridge sounds better than your Benz Ruby Z. It's been my experience that the price of a phono cartridge is not necessarily directly related to its sound quality, but that's just my experience. YMMV
