Love your Stressless...

...what a fine mancave you have! But you must be running speaker cables quite a long way across the room, eh? I suppose why I haven't done this is to keep speaker cables short. If you follow prevailing logic hawked by the hi-fi dealer community, your system should have a sizeable % invested in high-grade speaker wire. (I did save dough by putting my power amp midway between my speakers and using 2 x 5-ft lengths of pretty-nice Kimber cable). I have definitely found that long runs of speaker cable affect the tonal balance, but that's highly system-dependent and relates to taste somewhat also.

If you ever wanted heavier gage cable without the high cost, I find Thorsten Loesch's DIY cables woven from CAT-5 wire to have a very fine sound (indistinguishable essentially from my Kimber) for around a few dollars per ft. See link below. There are several similar options out there if you were interested.

Two irrelevant observations: 1) Do get up every 22 minutes- fight deep-vein thrombosis and 2) NO CD PLAYER!?!? A purist, eh? C'mon--- fess up!

What you do need a music computer of some sort. The sound, with the right setup, has gotten much better through the years. There's still much dross out there as evidenced by the recent LA Audio Show. But I find my computer-audio rig quite listenable, compatible with the resolution capability of my overall system anyway, and it's the paragon of ease.
