It may be that sapphire does all I need. It certainly looks very interesting.I have found one of these synthetic corundum watch crystal sources. Edit. Should have said , someone told me, or I read in another post somehwere about the watch crystals.
As of now the Sapphire and Tungsten Carbide pads, posted by mrbear, seem like they might be contenders I could play around with.
My plan is to have several materials on hand and run some experiments to try and find out which materials hold up best for me.
I wouldn't mind getting a nice plastic in the field of play too if anybody has any suggestions...I'm wide open.
