RE: How about this for a thrust pad material?

"Who let the engineers out? "

Maybe you. Thanks for this post. It's probably obvious I have no clue.

That paper was fantastic. No calculus required.

And the link? Wow, single pieces of Tungsten Carbide pads in the size I need for around 5-6 bucks each.

I understand Tungsten Carbide material properties based on things like Boron content, if I've understood what I've read correctly.

I wasn't able to find the material properties for the Tungsten Carbide pads in the link you provided. Is there an assumed standard to for common grades???

I'd read enough to realize compression strength and elasticity and flexibility is important so have been focusing on materials that have larger values of these things.

I'd also assumed there is no way I'd have any succes machining Tungsten Carbide on my own and hadn't found those sweet little discs you've linked. I could probably polish the surface of one of those. Thank you, man.

That was why I've been looking at plastic mostly. I figured it's easier to machine.

I had heard tungsten Carbide is an excellent material but with out any understanding I have been shooting in the dark randomly opening material data sheets and looking at random material properties.

Having someone who understands this better take mercy on me, isa game changer.

TGhanks again.
