Yes, I was surprised, too. I guess the audio industry no longer attracts engineers with the expertise to design high quality sophisticated turntables. The market is just too small. The sad thing is that the three-phase motor and controller pictured below probably cost only a little more than the stepper motor selected by Sota for use in their finest and most expensive turntable. Oh, well. Such is life!
