Photo shows my new home-brewed cable that replace the stock Sony cables on my PS-X50. I wanted some very-low-capacitance coax and shopped around but was put off by cost of high grade wire; add the RCA's and it looked like $40 or 50 bux.
Got me to thinking of where one could "upcycle" (sounds better than "salvage"...) some good coax. I found these slick COMPONENT video cables for sale cheap. This one is an Audioquest YIQ-X with silver plated center conductors and foil + silver plated copper shields, gold-plated captive RCA's. Uder $10 for 10 ft. set, enough for two turntables. I cut one RCA off and used the shield (only) of that lead as the ground.
It sounds quite good, I feel there is a discernable improvement in sonics but it may be solder-induced euphoria. That's my Dynavector XX, sounding full and rich and vibrant!
