Hi Phil,The ROk motor is very nice. I'm sure it would work great in the application I'm looking at. MKaybe I'll end up going that way.
I keep telling myself, for an idler table like I'm working on, the more external flywheel motor weight the merrier.
I keep holding out hope if I wait long enough I'll stumble across the mack daddy pen ultimate ebay motor with the mostest external flywheel weight....
The motor on the right in the back is actually pretty cool too, I think. I haven't played with my multimeter enough to prove it to myself yet. What I believe it is, is one of the multi speed hysteresis synchronous papst such as in older Grundig open reel machines. They have 4/8 pole versions. 6/12 pole versions, etc. Apparently more poles can be switched in and out depending on the motor speed the user wants. I';t probably a 6/12 pole but maybe I got lucky.
If that motor turned out to have a 4 pole configuration, it's heavier flywheel weight leads me to believe it might be a better motor for me than the ROK motor.
Though I have another, motor on it's way I'm convinced will probably be the one I end up using. We'll see. It is a brand new 4 pole grundig replacement which, if I'm not mistaken, also comes with the larger external flywheel.
In the end it would come down to how each of them performs in system, rumble wise, and that is where the rubber would hit the road.
For me the fun is in finding out. I enjoy the act of tinkering and hot rodding, playing with it to see what works better.
