Wow! I'm glad I didn't buy the SL-1200G...

This is the one I want. ;-)

Although, I have to admit that now that I have a three-phase motor and controller on my Sota Millennia Vacuum , it really is quiet and smooth. Still, direct-drive is probably the best of the best.
