You're right in a sense. However, headshell offset is not a side effect of overhung alignment. Headshell offset is a requirement of overhung alignment. They are integral to each other for the express purpose of minimizing tracking error. Excessive skating force would represent the side effect of minimizing tracking error in a pivotal tonearm design.
