RE: If you can audition a Goldring MM..

You can get near the top of their MM line for around $600 or so, IIRC. I heard them in comparison to a TOTL Clearaudio MM in a detailed listening session a few years back and found both tuneful, detailed, and listenable. I would have chosen the Goldring 1042 for around the same $$. As with almost all MM cart designs there is a sonic signature so you *pays yer' money and ya' makes yer' choices.* No MM holds a candle to my Dynavector XX though, gotta say.
