My first RCM was a Nitty Gritty 2.5. It wasted a lot of cleaning fluid because it applied the fluid to the underside of the record and half of it drained off immediately. As soon as I could afford it, I bought a VPI HW-17. It was much more efficient and used half the cleaning fluid. I've owned my HW-17 since 1995 and it still works like new.
I think VPI was smart to branch out into turntables. If all they sold were record cleaning machines, they might be going out of business, too.
