If we were looking at making these in a limited run (US) I might start my thinking assuming forged aluminum for the bases and platter (fine aesthetic quality)+ precision-machining for the bearing, armlift and tonearm+ precision parts+ detailed assembly-+ what have I missed?- it adds up. Maybe under a grand for the forgings and parts + that again in skilled shop labor, plus the motor and miscellaneous stuff (mat, belt, cables...) plus overheads (packaging, marketing, anvils, recovery of development costs, profit) I'm guessing north of $2 grand a copy if they were REALLY smart and lucky. Add another $1g for the Uber version... Consider that a recently introduced "Mobile Fidelity" branded table, a simpler looking affair, is around $2g which seems a mark in the sand.
Schiit would be going against well known entities like the lower VPI's and Clearaudio's as well as upper Regas and Pro-Jects, right?
It looks pretty as a Mitchell, but that's only a prototype now. It might be touted as a bargain by comparison the the highest-end, which seems Schitt's style. Worked on me anyhow...
If the proposed base is plastic, don't go near it. Bear's word.
