I have many recordings from my DL-103R, which is now worn to the extent that I no longer play it. I have a relatively unworn DL-103SA that sounds even better, but I rarely play it anymore because I prefer my three other cartridges more. I have an Audio Technica AT33EV that I like better than either of my DL-103's and there is no question about the superiority of my DL-S1 and AT-ART7. Consequently, I rarely play my DL-103SA, but you're right that it sounds very good for its price. If you can't afford to spend $375 for an AT33EV , the DL-103 is probably the next best cartridge.
Best regards,
John Elison
