RE: Oh, and a question . . .

Sorry I missed your inquiry. I ordered the isolator pads from the firm in the link below. Excellent service, good quality.

I feel that just putting them under your CD player's feet isn't going to do very much. You want something massive with a high degree internal damping (acoustically dead- rap with knuckles ant it just goes 'thuck' and hurts your knuckles- no drum sound!) This slab sits on the isolators, to form an damped mass-spring system that establishes a certain level of transmissibility of vibration. You need more mass than that of a CD player probably.

If you study the Wagner data, you see the pads are rated for how much weight they can handle. If you're above that, the pads fail. If you're way UNDER that, the pads are less effective as isolators. How much less is dependent on a bunch of factors and requires a little experimenting, using your actual shelf, equipment and ears.

Read the scoopsheet from Mapleshade "Isoblocks" here, but with a grain of salt. They recommend using their very heavy, very nice maple butcherblocks to sit on the isolators but go on to say the're helpful just under bare equipmemnt (but they want to sell Isoblocks, eh?- Notwithstanding, they seem a reputble firm!)

Please don't ask me, as a structural dynamicist (R&G- retired and grumpy), about the pointy cone things. People buy special little rocks to put on their equipment and little hats for their vacuum tubes- that doesn't necessarily make them a good idea, eh?

Good luck!
