Budgie sounds like a good choice from what I read. although controversy always graces the halls of the Asylum... as we see. Since you feel quite strongly that the Budgie is a giant-killer and you love your carts, it does purely come down to whether you plow $2k into making the cart/pre sing better by having better table/arm.My personal feeling remains that you're not too far off an optimal table/arm/cart match right now with the Thorens and you're not gonna' get a sufficient marginal improvement to justify the expense of upgrading the arm/table.
That's just one Bear's opinion. I've gone the opposite direction in terms of table/arm/cart. We recently sold a massive, beautiful Denon DP75 in the custom VPi base and replaced it with a discreetly small, sweet-singing, vintage Sony DD automatic running a Pickering D4500Q Shibata MM. A particularly synergetic combo! I downsized, downscaled one might observe, and don't miss it at all. Performance, as they used to say of Rolls Royce cars' horsepower, is "adequate" for my system, listening habits. So far, I've spent some of the money from the sale of the big TT on a Blu-Ray player, if you can believe that!
Regards, and good luck.
