I don't think it's all that good. I haven't used it in years. When I saw your post I decided to try it again. It doesn't clamp the record tightly to the platter, which is probably while I ultimately replaced it with a VPI clamp.
Your post did make me think a little about record clamps. While I like the idea of flattening a record against the platter, clamps that fit over the spindle don't do anything about edge warps. In addition, and I know this is kind of silly, but there's something about stopping the platter after every side and reclamping the next record that can interrupt the flow of a listening session. When I was in college I certainly didn't listen that way. I just played records. I don't know. I'm probably overthinking it. Of course when I was in college I wasn't cleaning my records either. Which explains why those few that have survived sound like they've been wiped down with sandpaper.
